UPDATE: Day 1-2

Thanks for being patient with waiting for our first update since starting! More on that shortly...

We've been amazed at how many donations are pouring in, and can't thank you enough! It's definitely keeping us motivated. The last couple of days have been gruesome. We were expecting the first couple of days to be the hardest because of the landscape in Cornwall and Devon, i.e. the ridiculous amount of hills - but they were seriously harder than we imagined. We take our hats off to the guys and girls that cycle and who are from that way though - I know one thing, we won't be rushing back down to Cornwall and Devon with our bikes anytime soon. The picture below sums up our thoughts on that...

The weather has been gorgeous... If a little 'too gorgeous', we had highs of 18C yesterday in Cornwall and 21 today though Devon and into Bath. The heat really didn't help, given that we had climbed approx. 3,000 metres of elevation yesterday and just over 2,000 today! Hot and sweaty is an understatement! We had plenty of stops and got through litres and litres of water, snickers, mars bars, gels, and sweets.

The reason we didn't post an update yesterday was because all of those hills and the heat came with a consequence, it took ages to get to Okehampton (a whole 8h 16m on the saddle)! By the time we had food and got prepared for Day 2 it was around 23:00. Take a look at the Strava summary below:

The first night sleep wasn't the best either, I had around 4h 30m, whilst Luke only had slightly more - not great for either of us. We were determined to get on with it and push through Day 2 though. At the end of Day 2 we finally made it into Bath!

We've taken quite a lot of video footage along the way and we will make a video of our journey at the end, but in the mean time here's a few photos from the last couples of days (and a Strava summary of our ride today):
