UPDATE: Day 5

Today we started in Wigan and finished in Wetheral just outside of Carlisle. Distance wise, it was a big day again.

We started off strong today, we had the roads and the wind on our side. The roads were so much better today, even on the A6 they were wide enough that traffic could past us easy enough at speed, which makes a big difference to the ride, it's much less stressful. In terms of wind we had a slight headwind, but nothing major, about 5 mph, getting stronger by the end of the day.

The sun however, well that just seemed to get hotter and hotter and at all the wrong points! We had a really big climb today, to be honest I think we could probably class it as a small mountain, the climb lasted 13km with the sun beating down on us at the same time. For me personally, the climb did me no favours, it sapped a large chunk of energy, luckily Luke felt a little bit better than me after the climb and could give me a draft so I could recover slightly on the down hill and flats.

Before the hill we stopped in Kendal, and of course forgot to get the one thing we could have used to help us with the ride, Kendal Mint Cake!

Just before we dive into the pictures below of our ride today, we did just want to shout-out to Lyn (Luke's partner's Mum) for paying for our meal at the hotel we were staying at tonight, really appreciated - It was lovely, so thank you!

As always, see some of the photos from today below along with the Strava summary:
